FAQ's

What if I’m new to aesthetics?

You’re in the right place! And we’re glad you’re here. Many of our patients are new to aesthetic treatments.

We start with a personalized consultation to understand your goals, assess your anatomy and skin health, and walk through options that make sense for you. Our approach is thoughtful and often gradual, focusing on natural, balanced results over time.

There is never any pressure to move forward. Our goal is to provide guidance, education, and a plan that feels comfortable and aligned with you.

Will I look overdone?

No. When done thoughtfully, filler should look natural and never overdone.

Filler can get a bad reputation from excessive or poorly planned treatments. Our approach focuses on subtle, balanced results that enhance your features while still looking like you.

We take a conservative, anatomy-focused approach and build gradually when appropriate — prioritizing natural, long-term results over trends or quick fixes.

Do I Need to Do Every Treatment That’s Recommended?

Not at all. Treatment recommendations are always just that: recommendations. There is never pressure or expectation to do everything at once (or at all).

At Aster, we take a multi-modal approach because the most cohesive, balanced, and natural-looking results often come from addressing different layers and concerns together rather than relying on a single treatment alone. For example, skin quality, volume loss, muscle movement, collagen stimulation, and texture all age differently, and different treatments target different concerns.

That said, every plan is fully customizable based on your goals, comfort level, timeline, and budget. Some patients prefer a gradual approach over time, while others choose to focus on one area at a time. Our role is to educate, guide, and create a personalized plan that feels realistic and aligned with your goals.

How much product do I need and how much will it cost?

The amount of product needed varies from person to person and depends on your goals, anatomy, and overall treatment plan.

The amount of product needed varies from person to person. Our approach is not based on selling syringes or units, but on achieving a safe, natural, and balanced result.

At Aster Aesthetics, you’re investing in more than just product — you’re investing in expertise, safety, and thoughtful planning tailored to your individual features and long-term outcomes.

What is the difference between Botox and Filler?

Botox is a brand name of a neuromodulator and is often referred to as the standard, though several options exist. At Aster Aesthetics, we offer Botox, Daxxify, and Dysport. These treatments relax targeted muscle movement to soften expression lines, with results typically reaching full effect in about 2–3 weeks.

Fillers are gel-like substances, most commonly made from hyaluronic acid, used to restore volume, enhance contour, and provide structural support.

Neuromodulators and fillers work differently but are often used together to create balanced, natural-looking results.

Is there downtime associated with these treatments?

Most injectable treatments have minimal downtime, though mild swelling or bruising can occur and typically resolves within one to two weeks. Many patients return to normal activities the same day.

To help minimize bruising, we recommend avoiding alcohol, ibuprofen, aspirin, caffeine, fish oil, and other blood-thinning supplements for three days prior, when medically appropriate. We also often provide oral or topical arnica in the clinic to support the healing process.

Are injectable treatments painful?

Most injectable treatments are very tolerable. We focus on patient comfort and guide you through the process step-by-step.

We also use medical-grade topical numbing, injectable numbing when appropriate, and sensory distraction techniques to help keep you comfortable throughout treatment.

Can I Have Caffeine Before or After My Appointment?

Yes, you can absolutely still have your coffee. We would never ask you to skip your morning caffeine because honestly… we couldn’t either.

That said, both caffeine and alcohol can increase circulation and may contribute to additional swelling or bruising, especially when consumed prior to injectable treatments. While avoiding them beforehand may help minimize bruising for some patients, it is not required.

If you are especially prone to bruising or have an important event coming up, limiting caffeine and alcohol 24 hours before treatment may be beneficial.

What is Sculptra? Is it a filler?

Sculptra is not a traditional filler. It is an injectable biostimulator that stimulates your body’s natural collagen production over time.

We begin losing collagen at about 1% per year starting in our 20s, which contributes to volume loss and skin laxity. Sculptra works by gradually rebuilding collagen, improving skin integrity and restoring volume naturally.

Collagen stimulation continues for several months after treatment, with results developing over 3–6 months and lasting up to two years or longer for many patients.

How often will I need maintenance, and how do I know what treatments I need?

Every treatment plan is different and depends on your goals, anatomy, and skin health. We take a thoughtful, phased approach, building gradually to create natural, balanced results.

Maintenance varies by treatment — wrinkle relaxers are typically every 3–4 months, while fillers, biostimulators, and skin treatments are often spaced further apart. We’ll guide you along the way and adjust your plan as needed to keep results looking natural and sustainable.

I have an upcoming event I’m getting ready for. When should I book a consult or treatment?

We recommend planning ahead whenever possible, as many aesthetic treatments take time to achieve optimal results. For larger events such as weddings or milestone celebrations, scheduling 6 months to 1 year in advance allows for thoughtful planning and gradual, natural-looking outcomes.

If your event is sooner, we can still discuss options and create a plan that aligns with your timeline.
